Red Bull Powertrains are offering a year-long placement opportunity within our Validation & Test Engineering teams. In this hands-on role you will be emersed into the heart of our state-of-the-art Technical and Testing facilities where we drive engineering and innovation to the limit to develop cutting-edge Formula 1 power units. In this role, you’ll get hands-on with physical testing to prove out cutting-edge Powertrain systems from individual components to full PU. You’ll play a key part in setting up and developing our F1 Powertrain Dynos and Test Rigs, supporting a wide variety of development, verification, and sign-off tests on Power Units and components.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Play an active role in the day-to-day function of the team, assisting with the mechanical, electronic, and software-based aspects of dyno preparation and operation
- Designing and implementing upgrade projects on our test rigs/dynos for complete powertrain: PU’s, transmission, subsystems and single components
- Integrating equipment and instrumentation to our dyno data acquisition, monitoring, and control systems
- Developing CAD competency using NX, to complete design of parts for manufacture. Our wide-ranging projects include electrical loom, mechanical, and PCB design.
- Hands on physical build, implementation of projects, upgrades and designed assemblies
- Analysing PU and Dyno Data for fault finding where necessary
- Collaborating closely with Technical and Test teams to deliver world-class engineering solutions
- Gaining direct exposure to the 2027 Formula 1 season and contributing to the future of Red Bull Powertrains

Expected knowledge, experience & attributes of the successful candidates:
- Knowledge and experience from at least one year of undergraduate study on an Engineering degree course
- Ability to demonstrate a genuine passion for engineering through practical involvement in extra-curricular projects, previous placements, or work experience
- Familiarity with CAD software for Electrical, Electronic and/or Mechanical design (training will be provided)
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in a team environment
- A solid background in electronic systems, ideally automotive based
- Experience with handling and analysing data from simulations or physical tests, and confidence in preparing high-quality technical documentation
- Ability to break complex technical problems down, and investigate issues logically and methodically
- Positive, can-do, attitude and willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to follow best practice and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
