We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Development Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills. You will lead a team of talented engineers, own the design and delivery of highly scalable frontend and backend services, drive engineering excellence, and influence the technical direction of DAZN's consumer platform.
As a technical leader, you will partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineering Managers, Architects, and other engineering teams to deliver innovative experiences for millions of sports fans worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of large-scale Full Stack applications.
- Own technical architecture and contribute to long-term engineering strategy.
- Drive adoption of engineering best practices, coding standards, design principles, and quality processes.
- Design scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available cloud-native solutions.
- Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and design sessions.
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineers through regular code reviews and technical guidance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, UX, QA, DevOps, and Platform Engineering.
- Improve platform performance, reliability, scalability, observability, and security.
- Drive CI/CD improvements, release automation, and developer productivity initiatives.
- Identify technical debt and define pragmatic modernization strategies.
- Champion Agile engineering practices and continuous improvement.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and evaluate opportunities to improve the platform.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- 10–12+ years of professional software development experience with strong Full Stack expertise.
- Extensive experience building large-scale applications using React.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3 .
- Strong hands-on experience developing backend services using Node.js .
- Strong understanding of Micro Frontend Architecture and modern frontend design patterns.
- Experience building distributed systems and Microservices.
- Strong experience with AWS Cloud Services , including Serverless architectures.
- Hands-on experience with GraphQL , REST APIs, and API design.
- Experience with Docker , Kubernetes (preferred), Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud deployments.
- Solid understanding of application performance optimization, caching strategies, and frontend performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and scalable system design.
- Experience with build tools such as Webpack , Vite, Babel, and package management.
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies including Unit Testing, Integration Testing, and End-to-End Testing.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic , Grafana, Datadog, or similar platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and debugging skills.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership abilities.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading high-performing engineering teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience in OTT, Media Streaming, Video Platforms, Sports Technology, or Consumer Internet products.
- Experience working with Video Streaming technologies, CDN optimization, DRM, and media playback.
- Experience with React Native or mobile application architecture.
- Knowledge of accessibility (WCAG), SEO, and Server-Side Rendering (SSR).
